Representative Projects

Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant, Chlorination System Design
Virginia Key, Florida

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (MDWASD) is replacing the existing gas chlorination system at the Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant. Nova provided Mechanical Design Services, in support of MDWASD’s Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant Consent Decree Project: Chlorination Facilities, specifically in the development of a Detailed Design (including 3D Revit Modeling), Permitting and Bidding Services, in accordance with MDWASD’s the terms and conditions. Nova is also providing Engineering Services during Construction (ESDC).

Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, Great Neck Wastewater Treatment Plant
Great Neck, New York

This project involved the district’s expansion of the Great Neck Wastewater Treatment Plant. The plant had a 3 MGD capacity with the project objective of 5.3MGD. Nova provided instrumentation & control (I&C) and construction inspection services.

New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Advanced Wastewater Treatment Program Assistance
New York, New York

NYCDEP underwent nitrogen removal upgrades at five of its wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), namely Wards Island, Bowery Bay, Tallman Island, Jamaica, and 26th Ward. The upgrades consisted of supplemental carbon storage and feed facilities, in addition to necessary distribution piping and feed controls at each plant. Supplemental carbon is necessary to maximize the WWTPs de-nitrification process. Currently, carbon is delivered to the WWTP aeration tanks via the primary effluent. The carbon is insufficient in meeting nitrogen limits. A sampling program has been established to better understand the diurnal variation of nitrogen and carbon in the influent streams, Nova participated in this sampling program. In addition, Nova supported the design services during construction portion of the project.
