AVAILABLE POSITION: Senior Environmental Scientist

LOCATION: Miami, FL (Doral)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Engineer/Scientist. This position will report directly to the Director of Environmental Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Supervise and conduct the following activities:

  • Application of principles of environmental engineering/science to conduct field and office assignments.
  • General inspection and site reconnaissance, composite, and grab sampling collection, environmental (e.g., soil, water, sediment, or biological) monitoring and related biological/chemical data evaluation.
  • Supervision of subcontractors during assessment and remediation of environmental projects, including but not limited to soils, water, wastewater, and stormwater
  • Inspection of facilities for environmental compliance.
  • Preparation of Health and Safety Plans (HASP), Contamination assessments, Remediation and Corrective Action Plans (CAP),
  • Participation in monitoring well installation and development, advancement of soil borings, groundwater and soil sampling and data evaluation, site planning and development, underground utilities, and miscellaneous science and engineering assignments.
  • Participation in surveys, sampling, and analysis of surface and groundwater.
  • Conduct wetland and green infrastructure evaluations.
  • Installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic and other equipment used to monitor environmental parameters.
  • Tabulation of data and preparation of plans, reports, charts, graphs, and sketches depicting information obtained.
  • Scientific analysis, compilation, and manipulation of data. Management of large databases.
  • Reporting and evaluation of data using GIS software and other reporting tools.
  • Interaction with clients and management of work on projects from proposal development to full completion independently and/or with limited oversight.
  • Management of lower-level environmental professionals (engineers/scientists).

The applicant must be familiar with the Miami-Dade County Chapter 24 and FDEP Chapter 62, FAC.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to interact with clients and manage work on projects from proposal development to full completion independently and/or with limited oversight.
  • Ability to plan and execute own work in accordance with company’s priorities and goals.
  • Ability to manage lower-level environmental professionals (engineers/scientists).
  • Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing to obtain or provide information.
  • Ability to guide clients and contractors with issues of compliance and other miscellaneous administrative and/or technical assignments as required by the assigned project.
  • Ability to adhere to the company’s standards and procedures as well as project budgets and schedules.
  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant progressive experience.

Nova is prime consultant providing owner representation services, construction inspection/management, project controls, claim avoidance, design, and design management, permitting, value analysis and life-cycle costing for PortMiami during its expansive development program.

Nova is providing support in overseeing the construction of approximately $2.8 billion worth of new infrastructure and facilities that are projected to be completed over the next 5 years, that coincides with the expected new cruise services, and cargo yard efficiencies and improvements. These projects include, but are not limited to, 5 new cruise berths and associated terminals, new cruise berthing facilities, upgrades and expansions of existing cruise terminals, and other significant investments in cargo terminal yards, gantry cranes, gate complexes, Ropax facilities, roadways, rail systems and supporting infrastructure.
